[12:00] Alexander Mercouris: “And with those troops isolated in bases where they are surrounded by Iraqi troops, there is a potential for those U.S. troops to find themselves in danger if this situation escalates. And it could be that someone within the Pentagon genuinely concerned for the safety of U.S. troops in Iraq put together this letter, circulated it withing these middle-ranking people within the Department of Defense and that somehow, in some unexplained way, it found its way to the government of Iraq. This is to me, and there is a lot of guess-work here, and I don’t want to say what actually happened, but it’s the most plausible explanation I can come up with. And it does highlight how vulnerable these U.S. troops in Iraq are if we have an escalation of the situation there.
